In Remembrance Of Coralie Raven

Many thanks to Gloria Goldstein for sharing these touching words about Coralie Raven who lost her fight to cancer recently. She was well known in Ventnor and will be sadly missed by many. Ed

In remembrance of Coralie Raven who went to her final rest on 26 February 2012. Her celebration of life will be held on the 21 March 2012.

I shall not tell you when she was born, but only that she lived each day to the full until her day of passing. And until that time her age remained a mysterious gift of youth.

She resided at the Ravens in Ventnor. She was my friend and a good neighbour to all and I loved her. She radiated all that is good about Ventnor and the Isle of Wight.

Positive, playful and bright
Coralie had a sunny summer smile that was beautiful even when she felt gloomy.

She was always the same positive person. She reminded me of spring. Her personality was playful and bright like winter snow and the laughter of children throwing snowballs enjoying a day off school, oblivious to the chaos.

Her tales underlined with the rhythms of autumns falling leaves that swirl with the change of season’s. Her life a dance you wanted to join her in. She was someone you always looked forward to seeing again, like your favourite scent in bloom.

She lived to sing
Travelling the world from east to west she sang a repertoire of songs with her unique husky passionate voice. She lived to sing. She chose Ventnor to come home to rest from her travels and live.

She loved music, culture, the arts, the shops and most of all people. Always on the go. She wasted not a day. She was a joy.

She died at home with her family on the mainland. Leaving behind her husband Hassan Ayad, her daughter Yvette Jaques, her son Laurie Jaques and her faithful sister Diane Warner. Also her musician peers throughout the planet and her extended family at the Ravens, she was the rose in our garden, upright, bright and beautiful. Her song will linger long with us. We all shall miss her so.

I thank God for her life.
