An earthquake that took place 8,000 miles away has been recorded on the Isle of Wight today.
According to a report in the CP, Mike Bishop, the curator at Carisbrooke Castle Museum said that the Indonesian earthquake with a magnitude of 8.7 was detected on his seismometer this morning.
The earthquake has been confirmed to have generated a tsunami, which is likely to cause devastation along the Sumatran coastline. Here’s hoping that all those affected will get the help they need.
