An Italian-American artist will display his fossil drawings on the beach at Nettlestone Point on Friday 2nd October 2026.
Richard Cesare James is hosting the interactive exhibition on the beach or beachfront from midday to 5pm.
He is bringing pens and charcoal so children and adults can draw on the day and feel part of the event. That’s the interactive bit.
A summer visitor with roots in Europe
Richard is spending the summer in the UK. He lives in the United States and in Tuscany, and has strong historical family ties to Europe.
A qualified teacher, he is a portrait artist who specialises in nature.
The Island date is one of a handful of exhibitions he is staging across the UK, each with a different theme.
Drawing the natural world his own way
Richard is dyslexic, and he says putting pen to paper in other ways has helped him massively.
It lets him record the natural world differently from people who describe their travels in writing.
If the weather allows, he will stay on after 5pm, because he loves taking photographs at the beach.
