The Isle of Wight’s Floating Bridge service encountered an unfortunate halt in operations over the weekend, according to a spokesperson from the Isle of Wight council.
The suspension resulted from an unexpected issue with the generators which led to a series of unforeseen cut-outs.
Issue being investigated
A specialist contractor, based on the mainland, is presently on board the Floating Bridge and actively investigating the problem.
The nature of the generator issues remains to be determined.
Replacement launch service
In a bid to mitigate the disruption, a replacement launch service has been put into operation for foot passengers and cyclists.
The council expresses its regret for any inconvenience caused by this disruption.
Updates will be issued to the official IW Floating Bridge Website.
