The number of people rallying around to raise money and awareness of the Sophie Rolf Fund has been incredible.
Sophie’s parents found out two months before her fifth birthday that she has an aggressive brain tumour. ‘KissyPuppy’ (The Sophie Rolf Fund) was set up with the support of registered charity brainstrust, to create a mechanism for friends and family to fund raise for Sophie.
Events are taking place every week and the latest fundraising efforts were made by members of the Isle of Wight Car Club.
Charity day raised £1,900
They held a Charity Day in aid of Sophie last weekend at the County Show Ground, with an auto test and show and shine competition.
With just five weeks to organise the event, it all went really well with a whopping £1,900 raised. Some fantastic prizes were donated and £987 was collected in donations on the gate.
Paul Blackley said, “There was a huge turnout with some great cars on show. It was obvious that hundreds of hours had gone into getting some of the cars into the amazing condition they were in and Sophie got to judge a special competition ‘Sophie Rolf Concours D’Elegance IOW Car Club 2012 Trophy’.
“It was a very close run thing but Sophie eventually picked an orange mini to be the worthy winner. Sophie’s brother Jack also got taken around the circuit which he thoroughly enjoyed.”
Well done to all involved. It goes to show that with the right motivation, a huge amount can be achieved in a short space of time.
