IOW Car Club Report: 5th SeptemberIOW Car Club: Round 5 Unsealed Nunwell
Sunday hosted round 5 of the IOWCC event calendar. Due to crop rotation there was a last minute change of field, some may say a stitch up!

However everyone managed to find their way to the new venue and the drivers were able to press on with a totally new surface to play with.

To get the ball rolling David Leppard helmed his 205gti through the straw in 1:01.73, however once the track had bedded in Andy Williams was yet again able to set an early benchmark of 0:58.83 in his Special.

Rain didn’t dampen ability
After a spot of rain before lunch the course had bedded in nicely allowing drivers to focus on extracting every last drop of time from their scores. Paul Wills in his Subaru Impreza made excellent viewing steering the road going car to a 0:59.12 while Neil Glasbey in the Golf GTI headed up the Hatches with a very respectable 0:59.08.

With the Unstoppable swift under new ownership Dan Westwood, the ‘big dawg’ was able to hike a 0:59.29, sadly not quite enough to compete with the larger hatches that were able to offer a little more grunt to what was proving more of a power circuit than we are use too!

As the day went on Andy Williams and Chris lee in the Specials were really able to get the best from their machines with them both securing 1st and 2nd on the day with 0:56.61 and 0:56.93 accordingly, they were unstoppable.

Driver of the day
Third place went to the driver of the day Martyn Cutler in the VW Golf (0:58.51) who along with Richard Harrison in his Toyota Corolla (0:58.75) were the only 2 drivers in the Front wheel drive fraternity able to crack the 0:58 sec barrier.

Another cracking day had by all on what was a brilliant location, Roll on round 6, another USS event on the 26th September back at Atherfield, hope to see you there!

Thanks must be extended to the landowners, spectators, marshals and last but not least the competitors.
