IOW Car Club Report: 6th June

The second Sealed surface event of the season at BAE, Cowes. With fine weather beckoning and one of our finest courses of the year potential for a showcase was on the cards.

IOW Car Club Report: 6th JuneSome fine machinery was on show with a TVR, Porsche 996, VX220, 2x Subaru Impreza’s, Supra, 200sx and many other notable cars.

Wayne Hole in his Mk2 Escort set the early time to chase with a 59.59, the first sub minute time of the day. Andy Williams once again laid down the gauntlet with a 57.06 in a Car engine special.

It’s not just blokes you know
Anna Weaver was quick in her Porsche 996 with 101.30 making her fastest lady of the day so far.

IOW Car Club Report: 6th JuneDave Goodwin in his usual smooth way set a time of 56.81 driving a very well prepared classic Mini but Dan Morgan came back at him immediately with a very impressive 56.02, convinced there was a faster time out there he then went on to beat himself with the eventual winning time of 55.62.

Return to victory for Dan
Well done Dan that was an awesome drive, taking his first win of the season. Upon asking Dan how he felt to win an event this season he replied “I am glad to be back on the top step, long may it continue”

Notably the pair sharing the Honda Civic, Matt Price and Dan Kozakewycz drove brilliantly to secure top ten positions respectively.

Top 5 Positions:-

  • Dan Morgan 0:55.62
  • Dave Goodwin 0:56.24
  • Chris Greenen 0:56.40
  • Andy Williams 0:56.95
  • Matt Price 0:56.95

Dan Morgan and Russell Thomson are joint leaders after round 2 both with 50 points. Anna Weaver tops the ladies leader board.

IOW Car Club Report: 6th JuneGeneral consensus within the paddock area was driver of the day should go to Matthew Price for piloting what is essentially a shopping car into the top five.

The next competitive event is at Knighton for an unsealed surface round on 18th July 2010.

Thanks to the event organisers, sponsors, volunteer marshals’ and to BAE for the use of its ground.
