With numbers swelling, rain holding off and competitors eager the day began with Andy Williams in the car engine special taking an early lead with a time of 61.06.

Wayne Hole in a Mk2 Escort kept Andy in check with some awesome driving breaking the minute mark with a 59.75 and then Dan Morgan in a borrowed special took the lead with a 59.65.

Dave Goodwin’s Mini
Dave Goodwin in his Mini kept the drivers on their toes by posting a very quick time of 59.10 and that looked like the time to beat.

Andy Williams came back at them all with 58.69 and it looked like the top drivers were set to pendulate throughout the event.

Russell Thomson, 2nd overall last year in a borrowed Caterham took the lead with an impressive 58.31 laying the gauntlet down to the other quick drivers of the day.

Dan Morgan again came back at Russell with a 57.52 but alas it was not enough to defeat Russell, the eventual winner with a time of 57.03.

Notable driver of the day: Dean Long
Notable driver of the day was Dean Long in a totally standard MX5 once again proving that you do not need big power to get navigate these courses, tactile skill goes a long way.

Thank you to all the Marshalls, organisers and the IOW college for supply of the venue.
