Island Libraries To Close For One Day For Staff Training

ISLE of Wight Council library service is closing most of its branch libraries in late January and early February so that staff can be trained on using an improved computer record system.

The new system goes live in March this year and will provide customers and staff with improved issuing and catalogue facilities.

The system can even target borrowers with details of books they may be interested in – based on records of their previous borrowings.

Branch library closure dates are as follows:

Ryde Library – Tuesday, January 29

Newport Library – Wednesday, January 30

Bembridge Library – Tuesday, February 5

Cowes Library – Tuesday, February 5

Sandown Library – Tuesday, February 5

East Cowes Library – Wednesday, February 6

Isle of Wight Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but assures customers that the training will allow staff to provide an even better service in future.
