Island Roads announces night work on Newport’s Medina Way

Island Roads will be undertaking safety work on Medina Way, Newport, over four nights next week.

A number of sections of safety barriers will be replaced in work scheduled to take place on the dual carriageway between 7.30pm and 6am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights (26th-29th February).

Closures during the work
Both the southbound and northbound lanes will be closed during the work with signed diversions in place. The southbound diversion will be via the industrial estates and the northbound diversion via the Lidl Roundabout and Hunnyhill.

The work is being undertaken overnight to minimise disruption and is required after damage to the safety barrier system was caused by road traffic incidents.

Wallis: Reduce the impact of this work on road users
Dave Wallis, Island Roads operations and maintenance manager, said,

“Working at night will reduce the impact of this work on road users and I am sure people will understand how important it is to ensure the restraining barriers on the dual carriageway are returned to their proper condition.

“We’d like to thank road users in advance for their understanding and co-operation.”
