Yarmouth Bridge will go through its annual servicing work next month.
Island Roads will be undertaking various work to keep the structure safe and reliable between 16th and 27th March.
Closed to traffic for three days
The road will be open to pedestrians throughout the work (subject to some potential minor delays) but will need to be closed to traffic for up to three days, 17th, 18th and 19th March between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm.
Advice for mariners
Mariners are also advised that it is best to avoid trying to navigate the bridge during this time, but if travel is essential then they should contact the harbour master as far in advance as possible and Island Roads will seek to accommodate journeys.
Diversion route
While the bridge is closed to traffic, the usual diversion via Thorley Road, Wilmingham Lane and the Middle Road, will be in place.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience”
An Island Roads spokesperson said,
“This work is carried out annually as part of a planned programme to ensure the bridge is maintained in good, reliable working order.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their understanding.”
