Island To Become Isle Of Pink Once More

The Isle of Wight council is backing the Isle of Pink Campaign again this year.

Island To Become Isle Of Pink Once MoreThis will be the third year the Island has turned pink, and the Breast Cancer Campaign are looking for volunteers to join ‘Team Pink’ to help with the campaign.

During September the Council will be making pink ribbons available in numerous places on the Island and Islanders are encouraged to get involved and support the charity which carries out vital research into breast cancer.

It’s Happened Before
As you may remember, last year the council turned the Newport Guildhall pink, with the help of local lighting and sound company ‘Happy Daze’.

Regular readers might remember that even VB has in the past turned pink for the month to support the campaign.

The Council is now working with the charity to think of new, exciting ideas on how to turn our Island pink.

Lauren Baskett, Community Fundraising and Volunteer Development Manager said: “We’d like to thank the Isle of Wight Council again for their invaluable support. Without their help the Isle of Pink wouldn’t be the success it is today.

“We want to make this year even bigger and pinker than before, but we need your help to do it. So if you’re able to spare a bit of your free time and want to support a good cause, sign up to help ‘Team Pink’ and help make a difference for the 46,000 people that are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.”
