Update on ferry service, following engine fire


The ferry has been withdrawn from the route as engineers from Wightlink, the engine manufacturer and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) continue to investigate what caused the engine failure.

The George, Yarmouth receives new food standards rating following recent inspection

Inspectors had previously highlighted a catalogue of failures and improvements needed at The George Hotel in Yarmouth. The latest inspection finds many of those have now been addressed and a new rating has been issued.

Kids walked miles in dark after being told school bus not going Yarmouth

Kids say they were told by bus driver she wasn’t going to Yarmouth, so got off in Freshwater. The council say the bus did go to Yarmouth but at end of service.

No-one injured during fire on Wight Sky ferry

No-one was injured and the fire in the engine room was extinguished by the time the ferry, Wight Sky, arrived back in Yarmouth Harbour some 50 minutes after leaving.
