The Daily Echo are reporting that a deaf Isle of Wight woman will be the first to receive a groundbreaking operation.
The woman who has been deaf since birth, will receive a single cochlear implant today, enabling her to hear clearly in both ears.
Although the operation has previously taken place in Europe, it’s a first for the UK, taking place at Southampton General as we write.
