This April sees the return of the Isle of Wight’s most exciting new festival. Over the weekend of 20-21 April a star-packed celebration of the arts is planned to entertain and inspire you.
Among the line-up of stars so far are Aled Jones, Sandi Toksvig, Hardeep Singh Kohli and Supertramp sax man John Helliwell who will all be joining our celebration of the arts in Ventnor this April.
Cultural and arts events throughout the weekend will include a celebration of Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, (one hundred years dead this April!), a brilliantly eclectic selection of music from opera to New Orleans blues, plus drama and some great stand-up comedy.
Sandi will be making us laugh
Comedienne, writer and presenter of Radio 4ʼs The News Quiz, Sandi Toksvig will be hosting an evening of sparkling conversation, clever party games and plenty of interaction with the audience in our festival marquee on Saturday 21 April.
(On The Wight is proud to be sponsoring this event. Ed)
Elsewhere on Saturday night, at the Boat House, there will be special evening of jazz, funk, blues, rock and soul from Supertramp saxophonist John Helliwell and his band Crème Anglaise.
This will be a very personal evening of music based on the many inspirations of the musician who has also played sax on recordings for world class acts including Diana Ross and Chris de Burgh.
Hardeep brings sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show to Ventnor
On Sunday 22 April, grab a seat and tuck in, as a guest of celebrated broadcaster, raconteur, writer and cook Hardeep Singh Kohli.
His sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show The Nearly Naked Chef combines comedy with inventive cuisine in a wonderfully funny, laid back entertainment.
Return of the massed choirs
One of the highlights of Sunday evening will be a grand ensemble of massed voices.
Our guest vocalist will be TV and radio presenter, singer and musical theatre star, the multi-talented Aled Jones. He will join the Newchurch Male Voice Choir and the Hart Male Voice Choir for an evening of grandstanding choral music.
Watch out for more announcements
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing more details about these events and the array of entertainment, performing arts, comedy and drama taking place over our festival weekend.
