Isle of Arts Festival 2012: Steve Harley, A Closer Look

Isle of Arts Festival promises plenty of live music over three days in Ventnor next week.

Steve Harley:Headlining on Saturday night will be the return of the Cockney Rebel, Steve Harley. Untamed and unplugged, Steve is set to provide a grand finale to Saturday’s performances in the cliff-top marquee.

Long-standing Cockney Rebel band-mates Barry Wickens (violin and guitar) and James Lascelles (piano and percussion) will be accompanying Steve in an acoustic show that will include tracks from all 13 of Steve’s albums, including favourite anthems like Mr Soft, Judy Teen, Mr Raffles, Sebastian, and of course the ever-popular Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me).

Personal atmosphere
Steve will also blend in more recent tracks from critically-acclaimed albums The Quality Of Mercy and Stranger Comes To Town. “Playing the songs in an acoustic format gives me time and space to enjoy every second,” he says.

The show, A Closer Look, is an unmissable chance for fans to connect with Steve Harley in a fantastic and personal atmosphere. MOJO said simply: “Harley creates rock songs that are proud, lyrical and full of yearning.” Steve is a consummate performer at the top of his game and his Isle of Arts show will bear that out.
