Bowls Isle of Wight: Game ResultsMen’s national finals
The Men’s National Finals have been completed at Worthing, in the first week, the Island had some success in the first week, however the second week was not so successful.

Pairs
The pair of Paul Dickinson and Adam Clark from Cowes Medina had a good run, starting of with a 25 to 13v shot win over Northumberland, followed by a second round win against Suffolk by 26 shots to 20, then came up against Huntingdonshire who put an end to their run beating the Island pair by 22 shots 11

Singles
John Marsh of Shanklin, had a good start by winning is first round match against Northumberland by 21 shots to 7, but came a cropper against Yorkshire by 21 shots to 7 Young Travis Meller had a poor draw, being pitted against a strong player from Kent, however Travis did not go down without a fight, eventually losing by 21 shots to 13.

Over 55 Singles
John Pearce of Plessey, having reached the last sixteen players in this competition played Ken Hann of Dorset. he proved to be too much for John and went on to win by 21 shots to 5.

Shanklin Gala Triples
On Bank Holiday Monday, twenty teams arrived at Shanklin Bowling Club to participate in Shanklin’s annual Gala Triples Tournament. They were all looking to win the £350 first prize. This prize and others were generously donated by this years tournament sponsor Michael Sleep of Solent Wealth Management, who are based in Gurnard.

The entrants came from the Island and the mainland, with teams from Goodwood Bowling Club in Leicestershire, H.M Tower of London Bowling Club, West Ealing Bowling Club and the Isle of Wight Civil Service Bowling Association.

The weather was great and inspired all players to play well. The final result was a win for Sue Butcher and Paul Cater of West Ealing, who teamed up with Phil Brooks of Shanklin, second was the youngest team in the tournament, Tansy Wheeler, Ryan Trigg and Travis Meller, in third place was Nigel and Ann Rance with Norman Lockwood of Shanklin and in fourth place another Shanklin trio of Jenny and Alan Morgan with Keith Beckett.

The prize for the highest number of shots scored in the afternoon session, went to Richard Jefferies with Pat and David Jones.

Ladies competitions
The last three of this seasons competitions have now been played, the results being:

Vectis Trophy: Won by Jean Pardoe, Joyce Gallop, Jean McCarthy and Kay Ward, with the runners-up being Gaynor Symondson, Phyl Liddiard and Magrit Bartrum.

Patrons Day: Won by Carol Venier, Juliet Roberson and Margrit Bartrum, with runners-up Jennie Allen, Jo Jelly and Elsie Young.

Eva Springer: Won by Freda Lambourne, Joyce Thomas and Ros Eavis, the runners-up were Ann Jennings, June James and Phyl Liddiard.
