Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum hosts visit from Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill

The Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum  were delighted to welcome Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill to the museum earlier this month. Peter Hendy is a well-known transport professional who has held a number of senior management positions during his long career.

Until last year he was the chairman of Network Rail and is currently the Minister of State for Transport looking after the rail portfolio.

Wide-ranging transport interests
Peter has wide-ranging transport interests which includes buses and our chairman, Derek Priddle, gave him a tour of the museum to show off our collection and explain current projects.

Peter owns two Routemasters and is a pivotal figure in the famous annual Imberbus event.

Drive to the Steam Railway
He drove our ex-Seaview Services Bedford bus from Havenstreet, where he had been a guest of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

It was clear he enjoyed his day on the Island and we hope to welcome him back in the not-too-distant future.

Open from 6th April
The museum is looking forward to welcoming visitors from 6th April for the 2025 season. We open Sunday, Monday Wednesday and Thursday from 10am until 4pm.

We welcome both groups and individuals free of charge. Visit our interesting collection of vehicles and associated items from the history of local Isle of Wight Bus and Coach transport through the ages.

Enjoy refreshments in our lovely cafe and plenty to see in the shop. We hope to see you soon
