Many drivers use a second vehicle for the Unsealed Surface portion of an IOWCC season, including Dan Morgan, who switched from the Mazda MX5 he shares with his three siblings to a Subaru Impreza. He used the car to full effect on the challenging Knighton layout, taking the overall honours as well as the Class Four win with a time of 1:11.54.

Fellow Impreza drivers Matthew Price and Ryan Munt came second and third respectively, with the latter driver having to abandon his Impreza after four runs due to an intercooler issue.

Steve Brett was the fastest 2WD runner, taking fourth overall and Class Three victory behind the wheel of his Mini.

Other classes
Chris Wilson took Class Five honours behind the wheel of his impressive Honda Fireblade propelled Special, while Dean Long and Daryl Turner secured a 1-2 in Class Two in their stock Mazda MX5.

Women’s class
The top three ladies were separated by less than a second, with Marion Brett and Sue Mitchell both coming extremely close to fastest lady Jill Broomfield’s time of 1:26.22. Vicky Cox ran into driveshaft trouble early on in her Peugeot 205, curtailing her challenge for the day.
