Isle of Wight care home residents are ‘treated with kindness and compassion’ say CQC

Greyfriars Care Home in Shanklin will be celebrating this week after their latest CQC inspection report was published.

Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all of England’s adult social care services regulated by CQC, are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

Greyfriars was rated as ‘Good’ in all areas of care.

Some of the highlights from the report include:

  • People lived in a homely environment and were treated with kindness and compassion.
  • Staff developed caring, and positive relationships with people and treated them individually and with dignity and respect.
  • Staff understood the importance of respecting people’s choices and their privacy.
  • People were encouraged to maintain friendships and important relationships.
  • There was an open, trusting relationship.
  • People felt safe at Greyfriars.
  • People were supported to engage in a range of ad hoc and individual activities of their choosing.
