The Isle of Wight features heavily in latest episode of The Lineup music podcast with Shaun Keaveny.
Acclaimed comedian and writer Shaparak Khorsandi appears on episode four of Shaun’s new podcast series, which he launched after leaving BBC 6 Music.
In the podcast, Shaun performs the envious role of ‘festival genie’ as he asks his guests to chose a location and five acts, as well as food and drinks for their dream festival.
Music, food and neuro diversity
Shaparak chose the Isle of Wight as her location and the hour long interview, which felt much more a conversation between friends, covered not just her musical tastes and memories of festivals she’s been to over the year, but also explores her recent ADHD diagnosis.
There are some wonderfully touching moments in the podcast, not to mention the excellent choice of music, which I won’t spoil by giving away here.
Khordsandi: “More of an adventure to get to from mainland”
Shaparak told News OnTheWight she had chosen the Isle of Wight as the location for her fantasy festival because,
“It’s the warmest part of UK and because it’s more of an adventure to get to from mainland.”

Khorsandi: “The UK’s best kept secret”
It’s no surprise that Shaparak chose the Island for her dream festival location.
She previously referred to the Isle of Wight, in BBC Radio 4’s comedy programme Just a Minute, as “the UK’s best kept secret“.
Shaparak has just published her latest teen fiction, Kissing Emma, and is also touring the comedy circuit with her “It was the 90s” Show.
