Isle of Wight cross-Solent travel disrupted by Storm Barra (updated)

The Isle of Wight is taking a battering from Storm Barra at the moment (Tuesday lunchtime).

According to the Met Office it’s expected to continue into Wednesday.

As expected, the strong winds and high tides are affecting some cross-Solent transport.

Red Funnel
Red Funnel say that they are expecting cancellations on the Red Jet and disruption to the vehicle ferry service and advise customers to check their Website for service updates.

Wightlink
Wightlink’s service status shows that the FastCat is running still, but there’s a delay on the Fishbourne route.

Check their service status page to see latest updates.

Hovertravel
Services are cancelled due to adverse weather. The next update will be at 13.30. Tickets will be accepted on the FastCat service (so as it is running).

See their disruption contingency plans for details.

Floating Bridge
The Floating Bridge is still out of service, but the passenger replacement boat is now suspended too due to high tides and strong winds.

The IWC have updated to say:

We are hopeful the service will resume at 3pm in time for the afternoon school run, however this is dependent on the tide and the prevailing weather conditions to enable the launch to safely dock and load foot passengers.
