Isle of Wight Day: Celebrating all that is great on the Island

The very first Isle of Wight Day arrives tomorrow (Saturday 24th September).

Across the Isle of Wight events will be taking place and in the late afternoon, many Islanders will come together for the People’s Parade through Newport.

The brainchild of the Island’s High Sheriff, Robin Courage, Isle of Wight Day aims to celebrate all that is good on the Isle of Wight.

The People’s Parade
Speaking of the parade, Robin said,

“What better way to bring everyone together to celebrate this day than to hold a big Parade, which everyone can join.”

It will include floats, marching bands, classic vehicles, Freemasons, samba groups, Cadets, Scouts, Guides, school groups, military vehicles, Royal British Legion and many other groups.

Lots to see and do

Robin Courage told OnTheWight,

“There are many public events happening around Isle of Wight Day, if you add in all the activities in schools and private houses, we are now looking at well over 100 events organised to celebrate the first ever Isle of Wight Day.

“I hope that you agree that my little idea has had a phenomenal response from all over the Island!

“The bunting is up and everyone is ready to celebrate the day in true Isle of Wight fashion!”
