Parts of the Isle of Wight will need to re-tune their Digital TV set top boxes next week.
The reason? The frequency currently being used for Digital TV needs to be made available for the 4G mobile phone networks, so a rejig is required.
Channels will be lost
It’s all happening on Wednesday, 15 May 2013 when, from midnight, viewing of channels including BBC1, BBC2, ITV3 and QVC are likely to be lost as those channels are moved to new frequencies.
The boffins hope that it will all be completed by 6am, so viewers can retune at any point after this.
Ventnor out for longer
TV viewers in Ventnor will have to wait longer to get their TV fix. As it comes via a relay transmitter, it may by off-air or subject to breaks until mid afternoon.
Background
A little over year ago the major Digital TV switch over occurred, involving everyone one with analogue TVs buying a new tuner, but luckily this time it will just mean re-tuning your current equipment.
