Isle of Wight Election Schedules

Election fever will soon be upon us, so we thought we’d put out a quick reminder with a schedule of dates for anyone considering standing as a Parish, Town or County Councillor.

Isle of Wight Election SchedulesApart from Newport, Northwood, Ryde and Whippingham, who all had elections in May last year, the rest of the Island could be subject to potential changes in the lineup on their local councils.

Town and Parish Councillors are unpaid for their efforts, but County Councillors do receive a small salary.

If you fancy getting involved in your local council you’ll need to get the relevant completed paperwork to the Isle of Wight Council’s Returning Officer by Thursday next week (that’s the 7th May).

Of course, there are only 40 places now for Councillors on the Isle of Wight since the Electoral Commission reduced the number from 48 last year.

Details of who has been nominated will be published at noon Monday 11 May.
