Isle of Wight Girl Guides enjoy Disney’s ‘Wish’ in exclusive screening

Isle of Wight Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers together with their leaders enjoyed a trip to The Commodore Cinema, Ryde at the weekend to see Disney’s latest film, ‘Wish’ at an exclusive Girlguiding screening.

Special guests
This cinema trip was made even more exciting as Dawn Haig-Thomas, Island High Sheriff, and Girlguiding President, Gioia Minghella-Giddens, were able to join them.

Over 200 Girlguiding IW members viewed the film here whilst at 99 ODEON cinemas across the country Girlguiding members took part in the mass screening events on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December.

Animated musical
In the animated musical, Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it’s answered by a cosmic force – a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, they confront King Magnifico, the ruler of the magical kingdom of Rosas, to save Asha’s community and they prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, amazing things can happen.

Steel: I can’t wait for our next adventure
Paige Steel from Carisbrooke Guides said,

“I loved going to the cinema to see “Wish” with my unit. It was so much fun!

“My favourite thing was how brave Asha was able to save her friends. I can’t wait for our next adventure.”

Stone: A fun-filled event
Linda Stone, Island Commissioner said,

“We had such a wonderful time at the screening of ‘Wish’.

“It was a great opportunity for our members to come together and enjoy a fun-filled event.”

It is the seventh time that Girlguiding IW members have visited the Commodore for these exclusive viewings. Linda thanked the cinema staff.

Special badge
A special badge has also been created for Girlguiding members to mark the event in true Girlguiding style.

There is an opportunity for any girls aged 4-18 to join in activities such as this by joining Girlguiding.
