The Isle of Wight will be hitting out TV screens next week, with the first episode of a new Channel 5 series, Isle Of Wight: Jewel Of the South.
The four-part documentary series, which was filmed on the Island last summer, celebrates the breathtaking natural beauty and rich historical heritage of the Isle of Wight.
Keeping Sandown spick and span
Dubbed Britain’s Busiest Island, the documentary follows the lives of residents whose families have lived here for generations and include Christine Jackson from Sandown.
Christine is seen rallying her army of volunteers to help clean up the promenade for the forthcoming Regatta, and raises money for fresh flowers by setting up a stall at the Regatta selling handmade goods.
Passionate gardeners
Philip and Nigel Brown, who look after the gardens at Osborne House, followed in their father’s footsteps and are passionate about the horticultural heritage of the palace.
Above and below water
Dan Subhani and his wife Tracey (pictured above) who run the airport in Sandown are featured, along with their 91-year-old volunteer, Henry, as are Bembridge fishmongers, Mike and Ruth Curtis.
Where and when
Tune into Channel 5 on Thursday 2nd March from 8pm.
