Isle of Wight JSA Claimants Numbers Down (graph)

Figures for unemployed claimants came out this morning which show that 3,886 people on the Isle of Wight were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in March 2012.

Unemployment Figures RiseAccording to the Office for National Statistics, the number of residents claiming Job Seekers Allowance on the Island dropped to 3,886 in March 2012.

This is a welcome fall of 194 since February, which showed 4,080 JSA claimants but up 329 from March 2011 (3,557).

4.6% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – nearly 2 percent more than the rest of the South East (2.8%), and 0.5% more than the whole of the UK (4.1%).
