Isle of Wight Met Service warns of torrential rain moving in Monday night

The Isle of Wight Met Service is forecasting potentially torrential rain overnight on Monday, continuing into the early hours of Tuesday.

Forecasters expect heavy spells of rain to arrive and persist on and off through the night, with some rainfall reaching torrential intensity in localised areas.

Thundery showers are also possible during the period.

What to expect
Temperatures will hold at 14–15°C throughout, with south-southwesterly winds of between 9 and 15mph strengthening to 14–21mph before turning west-southwesterly by dawn.

Rainfall totals of 10–15mm are likely across the Island generally, but localised amounts could reach as high as 20–30mm in some spots.

Residents in lower-lying or flood-prone areas may wish to take precautions ahead of the overnight period.
