Isle of Wight Monopoly Launches Today

Monopoly fans on the Island will no doubt be aware that the Isle of Wight version of the popular board game goes on sale today.

We were selling the Isle of Wight Monopoly game, but we found the company that produces it difficult to deal with, so we’ve made the decision not to sell it any more.

Isle of Wight Monopoly Launches TodayThe board features many of the Island’s iconic places and businesses. Unfortunately, due to a mix up, VB‘s Community Chest square was not included in the first round of printing, but will be sitting proudly on the next dispatch of boards, which will be printed later this week.

So, if you’re a Monopoly fan who loves VB, don’t buy your copy just yet. We’ll be selling the version with VB on the board very soon, helping you support VB in the process.

Launching today
The launch takes place later this morning at Osborne House, with the bright young things from Oakfield Primary School, who came up with the idea (listen to podcast with their teacher and headteacher), taking part and seeing their idea come to fruition.

So what’s featured?
There has been much discussion over the last few weeks on VB and our Facebook page about who’ll get the prime spots on the IW Monopoly board.

So here are just some of the items featured.

  • Osborne House taking the top ‘Mayfair’ location, price to buy M400 (that’s pounds to you and me).
  • The Needles landing on Angel, Islington (the game’s second trendiest site at M100).
  • Isle of Wight Festival occupying Piccadilly (yours for just M280).
  • Cowes Marina appearing on a train site (the four train stations that appear on the original MONOPOLY take on a travel theme). Price: M200.
  • Hovertravel occupying another train site. Price: M200.
  • The game’s lowest ranking site (Old Kent Road) going to Military Road (M60).

We’ll be bringing you more about the Isle of Wight version of Monopoly on VB shortly.
