A range of artworks on display

Isle of Wight Open Studio: Seven artists, one address, endless inspiration

Seven very different artists are opening their doors this May as part of Isle of Wight Open Studios, bringing together a rich mix of creative voices under one roof in Cowes.

The group draws its inspiration from the Island’s landscapes, seascapes, shorelines and wildlife, while two of the seven artists explore something altogether more personal – telling stories of trauma and healing through their work.

A feast of mediums and methods
Visitors can expect an impressive variety of techniques on display, with work created in pastels, oils, linocut, collagraph, multimedia and stitch – proof, if any were needed, that this is no ordinary group show.

The artists will be on hand throughout the event to chat and demonstrate their craft, making this a rare opportunity to see creative processes up close and ask the questions that galleries rarely allow.

When and where to visit
Medina Lodge, 26 Castle Road, Cowes, PO31 7QZ, opens its doors from 10am to 4pm on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May, with a special late evening opening on the Saturday from 6pm to 8pm.

Free parking is available, and refreshments come courtesy of the Wight Brainy Bunch – a wonderful local charity supporting people with brain tumours and their families.

Make a full afternoon of it
For those wanting to make a day of it, three further artists sit within easy walking distance of Medina Lodge, meaning visitors can take in ten artists in under five minutes on foot.

With so much to discover across such a compact area, this could be one of the most rewarding stops on this year’s Open Studios trail.
