For a second year running, Isle of Wight Radio has won small radio station of the year at the Commercial Radio Awards last night.
The category’s shortlist also included CentralFM in the Forth Valley, Scotland and another Scottish station Northsound1 in Aberdeen.
The category IW Radio was picked for covers commercial radio broadcasters with a Total Survey Area (TSA) of under 500,000. Rajar define TSA as “The area within which a station’s audience is measured. This is defined by the station using postcode districts as building blocks.”
When Isle of Wight radio won last year, the category was for under 300,000. All part of the jig around in the Station of the Year category. The other two higher categories are now a TSA of 1/2m – 2 million & 2m+. Metro Radio and LBC won those, respectively.
