Over 1,200 cyclists from the Isle of Wight and as far afield as Cardiff, Cheshire and Norfolk, took part in Randonnee 2026 – the first to be run by Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
A sunny start for a new date
The new September date proved to be a success when hundreds of people signed up on the day and glorious sunshine showcased the 100km route’s picturesque countryside.
Medals, badges and merchandise
Finishers were presented with a bespoke medal. Meanwhile, Randonnee’s iconic pin badges were also available to buy and the specially designed Stolen Goat cycling merchandise was on sale too (if you missed out, you can still secure yours online).
Cycle again in 2027
A new date is already in the diary.

Why cycle for Mountbatten
Mountbatten Isle of Wight, is the Isle of Wight’s local hospice providing 24/7 end-of-life care for over 2,500 people on the Island in any one day. 85 per cent of that care is in people’s homes and through day services/outpatients at the John Cheverton Centre community space. The rest is delivered on Mountbatten’s specialist inpatient unit.
The hospice charity relies on its community to raise vital funds and £6.50 of every ten pounds comes from fundraising, events and donations, along with money raised through charity shops and gifts in Wills.
Handing over the reins
The Isle of Wight Randonnee was previously run by the Wayfarers Cycling Club, before Mountbatten Isle of Wight became the event’s organiser.

“Thanks very much to Mountbatten Isle of Wight for taking on this wonderful event and moving it forward to the future.
“It was a perfect day for Randonnee, but thousands of people of all ages turn up for it, in all weathers! Club cyclists whizz round in under four hours while others take 12 hours. This year’s organisation is fantastic, with additions like toilets!”
Mountbatten CEO, Becky McGregor, said,
“A huge thank you to The Wayfarers for trusting us with this incredible event and for their trust in Mountbatten. I was honoured to be able to meet so many cyclists, community groups and volunteers who supported Randonnee throughout the day — thank you for your amazing support.
“Thank you, too, to the drivers who were patient and helped us keep people safe on the Island’s roads and the Floating Bridge team, who I know were kept busy all day.
“We are delighted to have become custodians of Randonnee and we hope to see everyone back in 2027, for another amazing day of cycling.”
