Isle of Wight residents commemorate second anniversary of Ukraine invasion

Last Saturday, Islanders marked the second anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Army.

Over the last two years Julia Warriner has become a familiar sight in St James’s Square, Newport, where she has been standing with a Ukrainian flag on Saturdays to raise awareness about the plight of the Ukrainian people.

Jan Welsh, who joined the Julia on Saturday to mark the second anniversary of the invasion, told News OnTheWight,

“Julia gets lots of support and positive comments from the public. She has unending sympathy for the suffering of the brave people of Ukraine.”
