Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures week starting 21st December

List of Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures taking place week starting Monday 21st December as provided by Island Roads.

APSE HEATH:
Ventnor Road
(outside Little Princelett Cottage) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am on Friday 8 January 2016 until 3.30pm on Tuesday 12 January 2016 for kerbing works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

EAST COWES:
Esplanade
will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip.

FISHBOURNE:
A3054 Elenors Grove
(land adjacent to Elenors). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 6.30pm until midnight on Monday 4 January and Tuesday 5 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.

GATCOMBE:
Gatcombe Road
(outside Gatcombe Farm). Priority working will be in operation from 8am on Monday 4 January 2016 until 4pm on Friday 8 January 2016 for drainage works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

GODSHILL:
Beacon Alley,
Godshill will be closed from Whitwell Road Bagwich Lane between 7am on Monday 23 November until 5pm on Monday 21 December 2015. The closure is for drainage works by Island Roads. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Whitwell Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, Newport Road and Niton Road.

LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path.
From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic:
Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is required due to erosion. Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.

NEWCHURCH:
Winford Road
(junction with Harbors Lake, outside Aspley House). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 9am on Tuesday 22 December until 4pm on Wednesday 30 December 2015 for cable works by A/plant for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

NEWPORT:
A3054 Yarmouth Road
(100 metres Shalfleet side of Vittlesfield Farm). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 5 January 2016 for cable works British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Yarmouth Road (100 metres Shalfleet side of Vittlesfield Farm). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 9am until 4pm on each day between Monday 25 January 2016 and Wednesday 27 January 2016 for cable works British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Fairlee Road (junction with Mill Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 5 January until approx. 4pm on Thursday 8 January 2016 for the installation of a new water main for a development by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

NITON:
Kemming Road
(outside Netherfield). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 11 January 2016 until 4pm on Friday 15 January 2016 for works to a vehicle access by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

RYDE:
Seaview Lane (outside Canoelbra).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Wednesday 20 January until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 22 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

Spencer Road (junction with Buckland Gardens) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Monday 14 September 2015 until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 29 January 2016 for gas main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Queens Road (outside number 20). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 12 January until 4pm on Monday 18 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.

The Strand (junction with The Strand). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Wednesday 2 December until approx. Wednesday 23 December 2015 for the construction of a new manhole in connection with a new pumping station by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

Pell Lane will be closed from Tandy Close to Mayfield Road from 9am until 4pm on each day between Monday 21 December and 1600 hours on Thursday 24 December 2015 for tree cutting works by Island Roads. The route for diverted traffic will be: Pellhurst Road, Mayfield Road, St Vincent’s Road, Broadway Crescent, Winston Avenue, Grange Avenue and Pell Lane.

Stroud Wood Road (outside Fairfield’s Farm) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Monday 11 January 2016 for the replacement of a telephone pole by British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

Upton Road will be closed from 9am until 4pn on Monday 21 December 2015 from Bettesworth Road to with Carters Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Upton Road, Ashey Road and Carters Road. The road closure is for carriageway repair works near and adjacent to Mitchells Road and Grenville Drive.

Bennet Street will be closed from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 22 December 2015 and Wednesday 23 December 2015 from St Johns Road to Park Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Southwest bound: Park Road, Monkton Street and St Johns Road and Northeast bound: St Johns Road, Monkton Street, Melville Street, Dover Street and Park Road. The road closure is for carriageway repair works outside 3 and 41.

Pell Lane will be closed from 9am until 4pm on each day between Monday 21 December and Thursday 24 December 2015 from Tandy Close to Mayfield Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Pellhurst Road, Mayfield Road, St Vincent’s Road, Broadway Crescent, Winston Avenue, Grange Avenue and Pell Lane. The road closure is for tree cutting works.

SANDOWN:
Albion Road
will be closed from approx. 9am on Monday 23 November until 8am on Sunday 14 February 2016 between Albert Road and High Street. The route for diverted traffic will be: Albert Road, Victoria Road and High Street. The one way restriction will be temporarily suspended to allow access to premises. The closure is for utility service installations by LCM Contractors Ltd.

Broadway (junction with Beachfield Road, adjacent to The Heights). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Saturday 9 January 2016 until for carriageway repairs by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

High Street will be closed from Albert Road to Beachfield Road at junction with Melville Street) and St Johns Road will be closed from High Street to Union Street between 6.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 for Sandown Christmas Fun day event organised by Sandown Business Association. The one-way restriction in York Road (from St Johns Road to High Street) will all be temporarily suspended to allow access whilst the High Street is closed. DIVERSION ROUTE: Albert Road, Victoria Road, St Johns Road, Grove Road, Broadway and Melville Street. Local traffic diversions will be signposted.

SEAVIEW:
Old Seaview Lane
(junction with Seagrove Manor Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 11 January 2016 until 4pm on Friday 15 January 2016 for British Telecom cover works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Seaview Lane (outside Canoelbra). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Wednesday 20 January until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 22 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

SHANKLIN:
Cliff Path
will be closed from 9.30am on Monday 20 January 2014 for the foreseeable future to pedestrians from Skew Bridge Path to Winchester House Car Park. The closure is required due to erosion/ land movement. During the period of closure the alternative route for pedestrians will be; Skew Bridge Path, A3055 Sandown Road and Winchester House Car Park.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive
will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be;
Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. Cyclists and Equestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Seven Sisters Road, St Lawrence Shute, Whitwell Road, Ventnor Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, High Street (Niton), Institute Hill, Barrack Shute and A3055 Undercliff Drive.

VENTNOR:
Longdown Steps Public Footpath V102
will be closed from 10am on Monday 12 May 2014 for the foreseeable future between South Street and St Catherine’s Street. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons using the footpath until wall repair works have been undertaken. The diversion route for pedestrians will be; South Street, West Street, High Street, Victoria Street, Wheelers Bay Road and St Catherine’s Street.

Castle Road (between Zig Zag Road and Gills Cliff Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Tuesday 30 December 2014 until approx. 1 April 2016 until retaining wall works have been completed by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

A3055 Leeson Road (outside 36) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 18 January until approx. 4.30pm on Thursday 21 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

High Street will be closed from 7.30pm until 11pm on Monday 21 December 2015 from Church Street to Marlborough Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Church Street, Alpine Road, Zig Zag Road, Castle Road, Gills Cliff Road, Ocean View Road, Mitchell Avenue and Spring Hill. The road closure is for carriageway repair works on one evening during the above dates.

WHIPPINGHAM:
Public Footpath N214
will be closed from Crematorium Road to Public Footpath N114 between 9am on Wednesday 5 August 2015 and 9am on Friday 26 February 2016. The closure is required until urgent repair works have been undertaken to B171 Whippingham Cattle Creep. The alternative route for pedestrians is; Crematoriums Road, A3054 Lushington Hill, Racecourse and Fairlee Road.

WOOTTON:
A3054 Kite Hill
(outside The Boltons) Priority working will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Monday 21 December and Tuesday 22 December 2015 for the installation of an electric service by Scottish and Southern Energy. Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 High Street (junction with Rectory Drive). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Wednesday 30 December 2015 for cable works by A/plant for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

WROXALL:
Redhill Lane
will be closed from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Monday 21 December or Tuesday 22 December 2015 between Shanklin Road and Appuldurcombe Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Shanklin Road, St Johns Road and Appuldurcombe Road. The road closure is for carriageway repair works on each day during the above dates.
