Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures week starting 2nd November

List of Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures taking place week starting Monday 2nd November as provided by Island Roads.

ALVERSTONE TO NEWCHURCH:
(Route 23 Cycle Track Closure
(Alverstone to Newchurch), will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders from 9am until 3.30pm on two days between Monday 2 November and 6 November 2015, from Alverstone Road (Alverstone) to Langbridge (Newchurch). The alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be; Alverstone Road, Palmers Lane, High Street (Newchurch), The Shute and Langbridge. The closure is for carriageway repair works on two days during the above dates.

BINSTEAD:
Pitts Lane
will be closed from 8am on Monday 2 November until 6pm on Friday 6 November 2015, between A3054 Binstead Hill and Church Road. The alternative route for vehicles will be; A3054 Binstead Hill and Church Road. The closure is for the installation of a new electric service which is located 50 metres from the junction with Church Road by Scottish & Southern Energy.

BRIGHSTONE:
Warnes Lane / Public Footpath BS25, Brighstone
will be closed to vehicles pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders from 7am on Monday 26 October 2015 until 5pm on Friday 13 November 2015. The closure is from B3399 Main Road to the junction with Wilberforce Road. The alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists or equestrians will be B3399 Main Road, New Road and Wilberforce Road. Vehicular access to premises will be maintained overnight and at weekends. The closure is for drainage works.

Mill Lane/ Wicken Hill Lane / Thorncross Lane will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Monday 2 November and Wednesday 18 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from New Road to Chine Lane. The alternative route for traffic is; Grange Road, A3055 Military Road and Chine Lane. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

CALBOURNE:
Lynch Lane
will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Wednesday 4 November and Friday 20 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from Moortown Lane to Freshwater Road. The alternative route for traffic is; Freshwater Road, Brook Road, Brook Hill, Brighstone Road, Hunny Hill and Moortown Lane The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

CARISBROOKE:
Clatterford Road (outside 24)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 17 November until approx. 5pm on Friday 21 November 2015 for the installation of a new gas service by SGN. Some traffic delays will occur.

CHALE:
Appleford Lane
will be closed from 8am until 5pm on Tuesday 3 November 2015, between Appleford Road and Shiny Bricks Lane. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Appleford Road, Niton Road and Shiny Bricks Lane. The closure is for telephone pole replacement works by Scott Vaughan for British Telecom.

Chale Lane / Pyle Shute will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Monday 2 November and Friday 6 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from Town Lane to Southdown Lane. The alternative route for traffic is; Town Lane, Chale Green, Chale Street, Church Place, A3055 Military Road and Southdown Lane. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

COWES:
Park Road (outside 58)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Thursday 5 November 2015 for sewer frame and cover repair work by Dynorod Fitzsimmons Ltd for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

EAST COWES:
Esplanade
will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip.

Old Road (outside 32) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 27 October until approx. 4.30pm on Thursday 5 November 2015 for emergency gas repair works by SGN. Some traffic delays will occur.

York Avenue (outside 200). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Thursday 12 November 2015 for sewer frame and cover repair work by Dynorod Fitzsimmons Ltd for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

FRESHWATER:
Afton Road
(various locations between Afton Garden Centre and Blackbridge Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on each day between Monday 16 November and Friday 20 November 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

GODSHILL:
A3020 Shanklin Road (outside Sandford Farm)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 9 November until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 13 November 2015 for the installation of a new gas service by SGN. Some traffic delays will occur.

LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path.
From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic:
Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is required due to erosion. Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.

MERSTONE:
Merstone Lane (near Bohemia Corner)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4.30pm on Wednesday 11 November 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

NEWBRIDGE:
Main Road
(approx. 250 metres Newbridge Village side of Dodpits Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when necessary from 9am on Monday 14 September until approx. Friday 18 December 2015 in the interests of safety during the construction of a new solar farm by Anesco Ltd. Some traffic delays may occur.

NEWCHURCH:
Watery Lane
(outside Thompsons Garden Centre). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 8am on Monday 19 October until 6am on Tuesday 3 November 2015 for cable works by LCM Contractors Ltd for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

NITON:
Newport Road
will be closed from 9am until 3.30pm on two days between Monday 2 November and Friday 6 November 2015, from Shiny Bricks Lane to Southford Lane. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Niton Road, A3020 Main Road and Newport Road, West Street, Whitwell Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, and Newport Road. The closure is for carriageway repair works.

RYDE:
Argyll Street
(junction with Pellhurst Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am and 3.30pm on each day between Tuesday 10 November and Thursday 12 November 2015 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

High Street / Lind Street / St Thomas Square (from Church Lane into Union Street and from the Crown Hotel 30 metres towards Garfield Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4.30pm when required between Monday 5 October and Friday 6 November 2015 for footway works by Island Roads. Some traffic delays will occur.

Spencer Road (junction with Buckland Gardens) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Monday 14 September until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 27 November 2015 for gas main replacement works by SGN. Some traffic delays will occur.

Puckpool Hill (various locations from Appley Road to Springvale Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 9am on Monday 2 November until 4pm on Thursday 12 November 2015 for footway resurfacing works by Island Roads. There may be some traffic delays.

SEAVIEW:
Old Seaview Lane
will be closed between 6.30am on Monday 5 October until 6pm on Monday 2 November 2015 from Madeira Road to Seaview Lane. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads. The alternative route for traffic is; Madeira Road, Church Street, Ryde Road and Steyne Road.

SHANKLIN:
Cliff Path
will be closed from 9.30am on Monday 20 January 2014 for the foreseeable future to pedestrians from Skew Bridge Path to Winchester House Car Park. The closure is required due to erosion/ land movement. During the period of closure the alternative route for pedestrians will be; Skew Bridge Path, A3055 Sandown Road and Winchester House Car Park.

Sandy Lane (outside 23) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 3 November 2015 for sewer frame and cover repair work by Dynorod Fitzsimmons Ltd for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

A3055 High Street (outside 75 to 77, at junction with A3020 Victoria Avenue). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 28 September until approx. 8am on Sunday 15 November 2015 due to scaffolding erected for building works by SDS Scaffolding. Some additional traffic delays are likely.

SHORWELL:
Presford Shute
will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between Wednesday 28 October and Wednesday 4 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from Haslett Farm to Bucks Farm. The alternative route for traffic is; Sandy Way, Farriers Way, Walkers Lane, Limerstone Road, Main Road, Grange Road, A3055 Military Road, Church Place, Chale Street, Chale Green, Town Lane , Emmett Hill and Kingston Road. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

ST HELENS:
Station Road
will be closed from Downs View Road to St Helens Bridge between 9am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between Monday 26 October and Friday 6 November 2015 for tree cutting and removal works by Groundsell Contracting. The works are located from just above Latimer Road to St Helens Bridge. Diversion route: B3330 Upper Green Road and Carpenters Road, A3055 Rowborough Lane, High Street (Brading) and New Road, B3395 Marshcombe Shute, Sandown Road, Steyne Road, Forelands Road, High Street (Bembridge), Church Road, Kings Road and Embankment Road.

ST LAWRENCE:
St Lawrence Shute
will be closed from 9am until 4pm on two days between Monday 2 November and Friday 6 November 2015, from Seven Sisters Road to Whitwell Road. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Seven Sisters Road, A3055 Undercliff Drive and Steephill Road, Castle Road, Gills Cliff Road and Whitwell Road. The closure is for carriageway repair works on two days during the above dates.

A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton.
Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be;
Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. Cyclists and Equestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Seven Sisters Road, St Lawrence Shute, Whitwell Road, Ventnor Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, High Street (Niton), Institute Hill, Barrack Shute and A3055 Undercliff Drive.

THORNESS:
Rolsa Hill Road
outside property called Hitherwood) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am and 3.30pm on each day between Wednesday 4 November Friday 6 November 2015 for carriageway works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

VENTNOR:
Longdown Steps Public Footpath V102
will be closed from 10am on Monday 12 May 2014 for the foreseeable future between South Street and St Catherine’s Street. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons using the footpath until wall repair works have been undertaken. The diversion route for pedestrians will be; South Street, West Street, High Street, Victoria Street, Wheelers Bay Road and St Catherine’s Street.

Castle Road (between Zig Zag Road and Gills Cliff Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Tuesday 30 December 2014 until approx. mid November 2015 until retaining wall works have been completed by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Leeson Road outside 3 at the junction with St Boniface Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Friday 6 November 2015 for sewer frame and cover repair work by Dynorod Fitzsimmons Ltd; There may be some traffic delays.

Newport Road (various locations between Rew Lane and Down Lane). Temporary traffic control will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October 2015 and from Monday 2 November until Wednesday 4 November 2015 for kerbing works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Trinity Road will be closed from 12pm until 3.30pm on Monday 2 November 2015, from Boniface Road to Trinity Road (the section that leads to Bonchurch Village Road). The alternative route for vehicles will be; southbound: St Boniface Road, Spring Hill, High Street and Trinity Road and northbound: Trinity Road. High Street, Victoria Street, Albert Street, Pier Street, High Street. Spring Hill and St Boniface Road. The closure is for carriageway repair works on two days during the above dates.

A305 Undercliff Drive (outside Castle End, near Botanic Gardens) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on Wednesday 4 November and Tuesday 11 November 2015 for concrete pouring works. Traffic delays will occur.

WHIPPINGHAM:
Public Footpath N214
will be closed from Crematorium Road to Public Footpath N114 between 9am on Wednesday 5 August 2015 and 9am on Friday 26 February 2016 The closure is required until urgent repair works have been undertaken to B171 Whippingham Cattle Creep. The alternative route for pedestrians is; Crematoriums Road, A3054 Lushington Hill, Racecourse and Fairlee Road.

WOOTTON
High Street
(outside 157) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 10 November 2015 for sewer frame and cover repair work by Dynorod Fitzsimmons Ltd; There may be some traffic delays.

WROXALL:
Clarence Road
(various locations between Mountfield Road and Rew Lane). Temporary traffic control will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Wednesday 21 October and Tuesday 3 November 2015 for kerbing hedge cutting and quartering works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Clarence Road will be closed between 8pm and 6am from High Street to Rew Lane on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between Friday 30 October and Tuesday 3 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting). The alternative route for traffic is; Newport Road (Ventnor), Ocean View Road, Mitchell Avenue, St Boniface Road, A3055 Leeson Road, Bonchurch Road, Cowleaze Hill, Church Road and High Street (Shanklin), A3020 Victoria Avenue and Godshill Road, St Johns Roads and High Street. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

Newport Road will be closed between 8pm and 6am from Down Lane to Rew Street on each night (Mondays to Fridays) between Wednesday 4 November until Tuesday 10 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting). The alternative route for traffic is; Newport Road (Ventnor), Ocean View Road, Mitchell Avenue, St Boniface Road, A3055 Leeson Road, Bonchurch Road, Cowleaze Hill, Church Road and High Street (Shanklin), A3020 Victoria Avenue and Godshill Road, St Johns Road, High Street (Wroxall) and Clarence Road.
