Isle of Wight speedway season’s final meeting cancelled: Here’s why

The final meeting of the Isle of Wight speedway season — due to take place this Thursday (7th) — has been cancelled due to lack of rider availability.

Co-Owners Barry Bishop and Martin Widman said,

“We could not put out two competitive teams with Rye House securing four riders and Warriors five and in addition at least three riders would be missing from the Training Challenge Championship.

“At this stage we are unsure if we can re-run the meeting and we will keep you informed, as it’s far from an ideal way to end to our season.”

They went on to say,

“For now, we would like to thank all our fans and sponsors for their commitment, our riders too for all their efforts and finally our volunteers who do such a superb job week in week out.

“We will announce our end of season party date soon so keep an eye open for that.”
