Isle of Wight Tourist Radio has started broadcasting on DAB, and the station says it is the first on the Island built entirely for visitors.
It runs 24 hours a day and costs nothing to listen to. No app, no download.
Listeners find it on the Wight Digital Radio small-scale DAB multiplex.
What the station carries
The output covers ferry crossing times, attraction opening hours, tide times and the weather.
It also runs a rolling calendar of events, taking in music festivals and village fetes.
Beyond that, the station points listeners towards boat hire, coastal walks, hiking trails and the quieter days to visit the busier attractions.
Local history and folklore fill the gaps.
Backing for Island businesses
Trish Conti, chief content officer at Isle of Wight Tourist Radio, said,
“Visitors to the Isle of Wight often don’t realise just how much there is to see beyond the obvious attractions.”
She said the station also exists to support the tourism trade.
“But just as importantly, it’s here to support the businesses and attractions that make the Island’s tourism industry what it is.”
The station is asking Island attractions, accommodation providers, event organisers and hospitality businesses to get in touch (email: [email protected]) about taking part.
Finding it on your radio
The station appears in DAB station lists as “WIGHT TOURIST” or visit the website.
Older sets with shorter displays may show it only as “TOURIST”, and some will carry the full name.
Radios that have not been re-scanned since launch (17th August 2026) will not show it at all – just rescan to find Wight Tourist Radio.
