If you love seeing the Isle of Wight from the sky, you’re going to love this story.
OnTheWight reader, Chris Bailey, shared a tweet earlier today from Raspberry Pi which shows Isle of Wight from the sky.
However, this is not your usual aerial photography.
High altitude balloon
The photo was captured by a camera on a high altitude balloon launched this morning by Dave Akerman, a very keen high altitude balloonist.
The photo, not quite as high as the International Space Station at 400km, was taken from 27km above earth.
Dave says the images are taken with the Omnivision camera, with some onboard processing to improve the contrast.

He’s not tweeted for a while, the last saying,
Looks like the balloon didn't burst cleanly and is creating a lot of drag. Landing prediction now a long way south. Hopefully dry.

We’ll keep an eye out for it on the Isle of Wight Dave!
