Isle of Wight windsurfing legend becomes first person ever to wing foil around the Island

Huge congratulations are in order for Ross Williams, who is the first person on the planet to wing foil around the Isle of Wight.

World windsurfing champion and local legend, Ross, was attempting the challenge in memory of his late father, Ceri Williams – himself a windsurfing legend – and raising money for asbestos disease support charity HASAG.

Challenging conditions
The wind conditions were pretty challenging yesterday, but after setting off just after lunchtime, Ross had reached Grange Chine by 3.30pm, Ventnor by 4pm and Sandown bay 45 minutes later.

By 6.30pm he was passing through the Forts in the Solent – where wind shadow was making things difficult and hard to pass through.
