Isle of Wight Youth Trust calls on young locals for creative workshop

The Isle of Wight Youth Trust is inviting young people aged 13 to 25 to take part in a creative workshop aimed at redesigning the charity’s reception area.

This two-hour consultation session will be held on Saturday 16th November, from 11am to 1pm.

The event promises to give young Islanders a voice in shaping a welcoming, functional space that reflects their needs and preferences.

Workshop led by local experts
Local artist Peta Rainford, who also serves as Placemaking Creative Producer for Artworks Isle of Wight, will lead the session. With her experience in creative placemaking, Rainford will guide those taking part through an interactive workshop focused on understanding and reimagining the reception area.

The Youth Trust emphasises that young people attending won’t be required to come up with final design solutions. Instead, the workshop will focus on exploring the current space and gathering thoughts on how it feels now and how they’d like it to feel in future.

Creative expression and collaborative input
Those attending will also have the opportunity to create a mood board, which will help visualise and capture the atmosphere they’d like to see in the redesigned reception.

The Youth Trust aims for the consultation to be a space where young people feel comfortable sharing their ideas on what functions the area could serve, from welcoming visitors to creating a more engaging environment.

The feedback gathered from this session will help guide the Youth Trust as it plans the redesign of its reception, ensuring that it reflects the voices and perspectives of the young community it serves.
