Isle of Wight’s Naturezones hosts a day dedicated to native red squirrels

The Naturezones team will be celebrating their red squirrels on Sunday 16th June.

The Isle of Wight is one of the few places in our Country that is a safe haven for native red squirrels. The efforts of many Islanders have significantly helped to increase their numbers.

Over that past 17 years Naturezones has worked very hard to develop an amazing habitat for red squirrels and it is now a red squirrel hot spot. We can pretty much guarantee you will see one of our many red squirrels—all you need to do is be quite and pretend to be a tree.

Come along to our little festival and join us in celebrating the success of the Island’s red squirrels.

Activities will include:

  • Meeting Sammy and Sallie Squirrel and helping them to find their favourite hazel nuts.
  • A  “Best Tree” fancy dress competition.
  • A hazelnut chocolate workshop.
  • Fact Finder walk about our Red Squirrels
  • Vote for your favourite photo in our Calendar competition

Consider the environment
We are aiming to be a net zero organisation. Transport Greenies  can find Naturezones at Blackwater on the cycle track from Cowes to Sandown or catch the No 3 bus and alight at Blackwater Mill

We have a small car park with limited space.

Entry
Entry will be £8 for adults, £6 for concession (seniors and registered carer with one person), and £2 for children.

Dogs
We are a home for wildlife. Dogs are welcome around the refreshments area, but not in the nature reserve.
