Isle of Wight’s Wet Leg nominated for five BandLab NME Awards: Plus, hear live set on R1 tonight

It’s only been three weeks since we last shared news about Isle of Wight band, Wet Leg, but the latest is a real whopper.

The Wet Leg duo of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers (with support from Ellis Durand, Henry Holmes and Josh Mobaraki) have been nominated an amazing five times in the 2022 BandLab NME Awards.

And the nominations are …
Wet Leg have been nominated in the following categories and are up against some heavy hitters in the music world, so we’re keeping everything crossed for them:

  • Chaise Longue – Best Song in the World
  • Wet Leg – Best New Act in the World
  • Chaise Longue – Best Song (UK)
  • Wet Leg – Best New Act (UK)
  • Chaise Longue – Best Music Video (this has has over 2.5million shows)

The BandLab NME 2022 Awards take place at Brixton’s O2 Academy on Wednesday 2nd March and will be co-hosted by comedian, actor and writer Daisy May Cooper and grime trailblazer and radio host Lady Leshurr. Tickets are on sale now.

BBC Sound of 2022
As well as this great news, the band’s BBC Sound of 2022 live session is going out on BBC Radio 1 from 8pm tonight (Thursday).

The band were announced earlier this month as making the list of artists in the BBC Sound of 2022.

Wet Leg’s debut album
The band has achieved a meteoric rise to fame since signing with Domino Records last year. They’ve picked up accolades galore and sold out live shows around the World.

Their debut album, Wet Leg, comes out on 8th April 2022 on Domino Records.
