Isle of Wight Festival’s year of the mud, 2012, was referenced in the source book that accompanied today’s AQA English Language GCSE exam paper.
It highlighted a tweet from post-hardcore British band, Enter Shikari, which read,
Oh dear. The tent we're playing tonight at the Isle Of Wight Festival is full of water haha.
— ENTER SHIKARI (@ENTERSHIKARI) June 22, 2012
Readers will remember national headlines, as festival-goers and Islanders were trapped in gridlocked traffic and stranded in the Solent on ferries unable to dock. Everybody eventually got moving the following day.
Best of luck to all who took the exam, we hope the memories of festival season didn’t distract too much from completing the paper.
The Isle of Wight Festival returns to our shores in just over a week’s time. Fingers crossed for dryer conditions than in 2012.
