Isle of Wight woman thought to be the oldest in Britain

A woman living in Ryde has now become the oldest living person in Britain, after the sad death of 114 year old Ethel Lang.

According to the Oldest in Britain Website, Gladys Hermiston-Hooper, who was born on 18th January 1903 now takes the honour of being ‘oldest living person in Britain’.

A CP report from 2008, explains that Gladys is former concert pianist and rubbed shoulders with the great aeronautical names of the 1920s.
