IW Freecycle: 2,000 members now

IW Freecycle: 2,000 members nowCongratulations to the Isle of Wight chapter of the Freecycle movement – they’ve just signed up their 2,000th member.

Back in April, 2007 VentnorBlog did a little piece about Freecycle because we thought it was such a fab idea.

A month and a half later we had to post again when we heard that some computer parts were claimed a mere nine minutes after they had been publicised on Freecycle. Clearly it was going well.

Doing your bit
The production of new things takes up huge amounts of power and resources – an example of this is that half of the carbon emissions that a car produces over its lifetime is directly from its creation.

By passing your no longer required items on to other people who can use them, you are directly helping minimise the amount of energy and materials being wasted in the world.

Well Done!
Well done to one of the Freecycle orgainsers, Jude Karen, Kevan, Cindy and the rest of the group for having grown it so well.

Jude’s clearly a believer in the power of the individual …

Who says individual action can’t make a difference??
Let’s keep on saving our beautiful world?
LONG LIVE FREECYCLING!!
