If Andrew Turner responds to calls to stand down, one option is that a Conservative candidate from outside the Island will be parachuted in from HQ.
(We’ve already covered who might be lined up with Island connections.)
A big name from outside may be just what is needed, it’s been suggested to OnTheWight – as they would be a strong / influential voice and untainted by local issues.
Olympic rower
The Olympic rower James Cracknell has been suggested given he’s on the Approved List and apparently looking for a seat.
Given his strong links to water sports and outdoor lifestyle, the Isle of Wight might be a perfect home for James and his family.
Baring all
No wallflower, James isn’t shy of baring all to the world, as his gallery of images from the attempt to row across the Atlantic with Ben Fogle illustrates.
