Jazz Festival: Free Fringe Events All Weekend

great thing about the Isle of Wight International Jazz festival is that if you can’t stretch to buying stroller tickets (even though they are only £60 for adults and £30 for 13-15 year olds) or specific gig tickets, you can still soak up the great jazz atmosphere by taking in some of the free fringe events.

Mick Smith, Director of Quay Arts is going to be hosting three days of free fringe gigs, held mostly at the Mill Bay Inn, on our wonderful Ventnor esplanade.

Judging by the quality of fringe gigs over the last few years, we expect that these will be well worth attending.

We hear from the organisers that as some of the acts are so big, they’ll be performing at either the Baptist Church (6pm Friday) or St Catherine’s Church (noon – Saturday). Always a great place to hear live music, so should be spectacular.

From midday on Friday there will be several free fringe acts performing at the Mill Bay, finishing with a jam session at 8pm.

Free fringe action kicks off from 11am on Saturday morning at the Mill Bay, with two gigs at St Catherine’s Church from midday and then back to Mill Bay from 2pm and another Jam session to close fringe events at the Mill Bay at 8pm.

Sunday follows the same format (minus the gigs at the church).

This is just a slice of what you can expect over the three day festival – as we say, stroller tickets are just £60 for adults – we’ll be highlighting some of the stroller gigs later today/tomorrow.

Tickets are also available by phone on T: 01983 856206 or 856200 and phone lines are manned between 11 am – 6 pm Mon – Fri
