VB readers may remember Quay Arts Director, Jo Cowan was planning to run the Paris Marathon a couple of weeks ago.
After taking a few extra days in the beautiful French city to recover, Jo is back on the Isle of Wight and pleased to report that she completed the marathon in one piece (well, apart from a couple of monster blisters).
The 26 mile race took Jo just four and a half hours to complete during the hottest April day ever recorded in Paris.
Keep the donations coming
Speaking to Jo yesterday she told VB that she’d already raised a whopping £1,200 through various methods for the Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts (the charity that runs Quay Arts Centre), but keen to take more donations, so will be keeping her Just Giving page open.
Supporting Quay Arts after funding slash
Readers may remember that the Arts Council withdrew their funding support a couple of weeks ago, leaving the Arts Centre with an £80,000 hold in next year’s budget.
Unlike many who do fund-raising runs, Jo covered all her own costs for attending and taking part in the marathon so you can be assured that all money donated will got to the Quay.
Well done Jo, what a super-star you are!
