John’s Club launches new Community Cafe, Warm Space and Learning Zone

John’s Club, the Isle of Wight charity that provides a unique service offering social and recreational activities for disabled people, people with learning difficulties and mental health issues, is happy to announce they will be opening their new Community Cafe, Warm Space and Learning Zone this week.

Aims of the project
This new project aims to provide a community space with three specific aims.

  1. A cafe which will provide low cost teas, coffees and simple food at very affordable prices.
  2. A warm space which people can use for free. As we feel there is a need for warm spaces into the evening the cafe will stay open until 8pm to accommodate this.
  3. A learning zone, this space is fully Wi-Fi connected and we will use it to provide free or very affordable training initially targeting digital skills.

We are happy to be growing the charity again and feel this will a valuable community asset.

Phillips: A place to come for warmth and meet with people
John Phillips founder of the charity said,

“In these difficult times, I believe that if John’s Club members can offer our community a place to come for warmth, meet with people, make use of our learning zone and recreational area, it will be of great benefit to many.”

Where and when
The cafe will be open from from 12 midday on Thursday 2nd February 2023.

Find us at 62 High St, Shanklin PO37 6NJ, the site of the charity shop previously operated by the charity.
